He loved watching westerns, fishing and gardening, as well as, spending time with his granddaughters and his great-granddaughter. Since his childhood, Ronald also enjoyed hunting. He also won numerous awards over his years of trap shooting and also earned the title of the Ohio State Handicap Champion. Ronald shot at a distance of 23 yards at this event and hit 99 of the 100 targets. He earned the title of the Indiana State Handicap Champion in 2009. Ronald also traveled all over the area starting with smaller shoots that led to attending the Indiana State Trap Shooters Association tournament. Trap shooting was a big part of his life and he shared his love of shooting with his wife, his children and his grandchildren. In his early years of life, Ronald enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife and traveling all over the states. Ronald was awarded the ‘Conservation Farmer of the Year’ by the Switzerland County Soil & Water Conservation District on March 25th, 2011. He was a former member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department and United Farmers Association. He was a member of the Coffee Creek Conservation Club, Amateur Trap Shooting Association, Switzerland County Tractor Pullers, National Rifle Association and Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club. Ronald farmed all of his life in the Switzerland County community. Ronald was employed briefly as a truck driver for the Switzerland County Highway Department. This happy union of over 60 years of marriage was blessed with three children: David, Melissa and Andy. Ronald was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Ann Mathews on June 15th, 1962 at the Braytown Christian Church. He was raised in Switzerland County and attended Switzerland County High School. He was the loving son of the late Basil William and Agnes Maude (Herring) Christman. Ronald entered this life on March 11th, 1943 in Jefferson County, Indiana. on Sunday, August 21st, 2022, at his residence. Graveside honors were given by the US Army and the Piedmont American Legion Post # 281 Honor Guard. Tim Loucks, Levi Loucks, Bob Myers, Larry Morris, Brandon Kyle, Jeff Cox, Wes Crum and Luke Crum served as Pall Bearers. Special recorded songs were played and Janet Loucks gave a tribute to her father. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Novemat the Morrison-Worley Chapel in Piedmont with Rev. Survivors include two children, Timothy Loucks, of Piedmont, Janet Loucks, of Piedmont, five grandchildren, Jean Daugherty and her husband Tim, of Blackwell, MO, Levi Loucks and his wife Erica, of Piedmont, Billy and Caleb Laxton, both of Piedmont, Lynn Sanfilippo, of Poplar Bluff, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Benjamin and Ethel Loucks, one son, Gary Loucks, and one brother, Elmer Leroy Loucks. He was married to Lula Belle Kirkpatrick Decemand she passed away December 30, 2013. Haskell was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and was a long time member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was born on Decemin Piedmont, the son of Benjamin Loucks and Ethel (Eaton) Loucks. Loucks, age 88, passed away Saturday, Novemat his home in Piedmont, MO.
